Vilma Gabbay, M.D. is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the New York University Medical Center and Medical Director of the Institute for the Study of Anxiety and Mood Disorders at the NYU Child Study Center (http://www.aboutourkids.org/).  Her research focuses on pediatric neuropsychiatric conditions, in particular depression. Vilma Gabbay, M.D.
 

Vilma Gabbay, M.D., is the Medical Director of the Institute for the Study of Anxiety and Mood Disorders at the NYU Child Study Center (http://www.aboutourkids.org/). She is also Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine. Her research involves applying multidisciplinary approaches of neuroimaging, genetics, and neuroimmunology to pediatric depression and Tourette's Disorder. Dr. Gabbay is board certified in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Gabbay is currently the Principal Investigator on three grants: "Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Adolescents with Depression," awarded by the National Institute of Health; "Immune System Activation in Adolescent Suicide," awarded by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; and "Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Children and Adolescents with Tourette's Disorder" awarded by the Tourette Syndrome Association.

Dr. Gabbay received her B.Med.Sc. in Human Sciences and her M.D. from Tel Aviv University in Israel. She completed a residency in general psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a residency in child and adolescent psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine. She is the recipient of the American Psychiatric Association's Colloquium for Junior Investigators Travel Award, the Resident Research Excellence Award from the NYU Child Study Center and the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital Center, and the NCDEU New Investigator Award.

Dr. Gabbay has published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, the American Journal of Psychiatry and Neurology.
